4 Tips for Setting a Beautiful (+ Easy) Holiday Table
This post is sponsored by Anthropologie
It’s moving week (WOW, I never thought I would actually say that!!!) and the one thing I’m most excited to do once we settle in is to christen the new house with a celebratory dinner party. Our house may be covered in boxes and we may not have much furniture but I think that’s all the more reason to start creating forever memories in our home. Plus, our friends and family have been such a strong source of support for us through pregnancy and the renovation process — so what better way to thank them than hosting a fun seasonal dinner party?
To get some practice in for the upcoming hosting season and celebrate one of our LAST dinners in the condo, David and I set our table with the most beautiful tabletop pieces from Anthropologie. Anthropologie has always been my go-to for unique home goods that feel classic and special at the same time. It’s the perfect place to find elevated hosting essentials for all the upcoming holiday events. On that note, I thought it would helpful to share some simple tips for setting a beautiful (and easy) holiday table this season — cue the dinner-party music!
5 Tips for Setting your Holiday Table
Mix your metals
Just like when designing a space, mixing metals on your table creates depth and visual interest! Here I chose these black ceramic plates and black candlesticks to compliment our black dining room light fixture. To mix it up, I chose to use this gold flatware. I love how mixing the gold and black finishes makes the whole table setting feel fresh.
2. Create an affordable arrangement with stems from your local grocery store
Those of you who have been following along for a while know I love to get my stems from the local TJ’s. I can always find unique, seasonal options that are super affordable and allow me to get creative when making an arrangement for our house. When making your own arrangements, don’t worry too much about perfection. My favorite floral arrangements are always the ones that look casually thrown together. Pro tip: incorporate a couple different types of greenery for an organic “gathered” look.
3. Incorporate live stems as a garnish
A small seasonal sprig (seeded eucalyptus, rosemary, thyme) is an easy way to garnish your table. I tied some fresh seeded eucalyptus to these beautiful linen napkins with some velvet ribbon I had lying around the house and voila! a super simple, elevated napkin garnish!
4. Layer linens and textures
When setting your holiday table, try layering different textures and linens. Here I chose to mix the rough woven look of this table-runner with these soft linen napkins and I love how beautifully the two textures tie together.
