Holiday Spirits: Bar Cart Styling & Cocktails

Hey Everyone! This is a fun post because it combines my two loves: holidays & alcohol ;) Our bar cart is one of my most prized possessions — i’m not kidding! Not only is it super pretty, but it’s SO useful for entertaining or when we’re in the mood to mix up a cocktail real quick. Now that we’re fully embracing holiday decor, we are so excited to show you how we spiced up our bar cart for the season. In this post I’ll break down how I styled our cart for the holidays, link some similar products, and share some festive cocktail recipes to get you in the spirit of the holidays (hehe - get it?!)

Bar Carts

To start, I’ve linked some of my favorite carts below. I love a classic gold bar cart but there are so many options out there you can easily find one that compliments your home. This cart is a more masculine, mid-century style cart with pretty dark wood OR I love this super cool rattan cart for more bohemian vibes. One of the first gifts I got David after we were married was our current bar cart and I think I still hold the “best-gift” title.

Bar Tools & Accessories

The next thing to do is invest in some good bar tools - these are GREAT gift ideas for fellow cocktail lovers because they’ll amp up your drink mixing game AND make your bar cart look super professional! If nothing else, make sure to grab a cocktail shaker and an ice bucket - those are bar cart essentials! We went with the classic gold look for our bar tools 1. because it looks great on the cart and 2. because its festive!

Glasses

Obviously an important part of styling a bar cart are your drinking glasses. It’s best to keep a range of types ready and available to use on your cart. On our bar cart we have short tumblers, white wine glasses, and champagne flutes! My advice would be to keep the glasses you use the most out on display!

Seasonal Styling Accessories

Besides the alcohol, styling accessories are really what makes your bar cart come to life! We used textured trays and bowls, books, garlands, seasonal fruit, ribbon, trays, and faux greenery to make our cart super festive and pretty for the season this year.

- Cocktail Recipes -

Now for the fun recipes! If you follow us along on instagram, you might have seen us make this cocktail last week! It is sooooo delicious and simple. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Vodka (we always use Titos)

  • Champagne or Prosecco (my favorite is Lamarca Prosecco)

  • Frozen Cranberries

  • Rosemary sprigs

  • Ice

First fill a glass with ice. Pour in one shot of vodka to start. Fill the glass half full with champagne or prosecco. Add cranberry juice to taste. Garnish with a sprig of Rosemary and frozen cranberries - voila! The perfect festive cocktail for the holiday weekend!

If you like tequila - you will love this thanksgiving margarita! Here’s what you need:

  • 2 oz 100% apple cider

  • 2 oz pear juice

  • Gold tequila

  • Orange liqueur

  • Salt (for glass)

  • Ice

  • Cinnamon sticks

First, you’ll need to salt the rim of your glass and fill halfway with ice. Pour the apple cider, pear juice, 1 shot of tequila, and 1 shot of orange liqueur into a cocktail shaker with some ice and shake for about 15 seconds. Pour the mixed drink into your salted cup and garnish with a cinnamon stick! YUM!
