Axel’s Fall Nursery Refresh

Axel’s nursery remains to be one of my favorite rooms in our home - it was also one of the first spaces we finished! You can see the original reveal here. For the first half of his life the nursery was a sanctuary for me to enjoy the newborn snuggles but now that Axel is older, it’s fun to watch him explore and enjoy it on his own! We spend a-lot of time in here and I have found that seasonally refreshing the space keeps it feeling fresh and new. I’m not one to go over-the -top with fall decor but a few festive changes can have a huge impact on the feel of the room.

In the reading corner, the first thing I did was switch out the books in his bookshelves for some new fall-themed stories. We hung these acrylic shelves low so that Axel can reach the books himself and I love how the clear design lets the color of the books shine. This plaid rug has held up beautifully over the last year and it’s perfectly soft for crawling knees!

We used this antique dresser as a changing table for awhile but Axel outgrew it quickly and we realized the floor works just as well for changing dirty diapers(lol). Now I use the surface for extra toys and books and for displaying seasonal florals like these gorgeous amazon stems. This may be my favorite corner of his room — the velvet green curtains add so much warmth and the blackout feature keeps his room dark for naps.

Now for his crib! Things in this corner of the room have remained pretty much the same except we recently lowered the crib mattress to prevent our little climber from escaping! Eventually we’ll move the gallery wall, but he’s still too small to reach any of the frames. To prepare for cooler weather, I keep a cozy throw blanket close by for snuggling together in his glider.
