Our Kitchen Cabinetry Cost Breakdown
So how much did your kitchen cabinets cost?!
This is a question I receive almost daily in my DMs and I' m excited to “spill all the tea” for you guys today.
I should disclaim that kitchen cabinetry can have a wide variation of cost depending on different factors like: kitchen size, whether you use custom or prefabricated cabinetry, inset vs. overlay cabinets, door style, moulding, and cabinet inserts/accessories. Making different cabinetry choices based on your priorities can greatly impact the total cost – so make sure to do you research and find out what's most important to you! For me, installing high-quality cabinetry with lots of character and functionality was my ultimate goal. I was going for a very “english-style” kitchen which guided a-lot of my cabinet design decisions. You can checkout my english-kitchen inspired moodboard here.
Our kitchen footprint is relatively small in size (less than 125 sq. ft.) which means fewer cabinets so we splurged on cabinet details and accessories. Ultimately, this is what we ended up doing:
We worked with Crown Point Cabinetry, a small company in New Hampshire, for our custom inset shaker-style cabinetry. Our large center island is flat-sawn oak in a matte, chestnut stain and our surround cabinetry is painted maple (SW Creamy) with walnut interiors. All of our appliances are panel-ready so we had cabinet panels made for both our fridge and dishwasher.
As a callout to traditional english-style kitchens, we included a counter to ceiling glass-front cabinet to house all our dishes – my absolute favorite part of our kitchen design! We also chose to add cabinet inserts like cutlery dividers, a double basket waste receptacle, spice drawer rack, knife block, and can storage shelves to increase the functionality of our kitchen.
Lastly, we installed crown moulding around the perimeter of our upper cabinets and baseboards around both the island and surrounding cabinets.
